Keyboards and Mice

Even the humble mouse is not boring anymore with all the choices on the market these days. There are two different types of mice available in the market, the standard ball mouse and the optical mouse. The good old ball mouse is a mechanical mice. A common problem with mechanical mice is that the ball gets dirty, and the roller picks up tons of dirt from the ball, which both need constant cleaning in order for it to function properly. Optical mice do not have mechanical parts, it does not have a ball nor a roller, its main parts include a led, a photo diode and an optoelectronic sensor. The overall performance of optical mice offer far greater accuracy and lesser maintenance than the mechanical mouse. Connecting wirelessly and replaced by optical technology, the mechanical ball mouse is slowly fading away. Even keyboards can connect without wires these days, making you feel as comfy as possible. Wireless keyboards need batteries to work, using Bluetooth, radio frequency (RF) to communicate to the computer. Also in the market are gaming keyboards that can programmed, assigning keystroke combinations to a key function. There are even virtual keyboards, which use sensors for the key strokes being pressed on full size keyboard projected on a surface.
