Web Cameras

Video cameras attached to the desktops or laptops are commonly called web cams.  These are the cameras that have low resolution whose images can be accessed using internet and an application for video conferencing.  As you might have noticed there are a number of web cameras that you have come across from serious to silly designs.  Web cameras are also classified as business cams, private/personal cams, and even traffic cams.  The basic idea of web cams like most things range from complicated to easy.

Other advanced features of these web cameras is motion sensing where it can take a picture when it detects motion, some web cams stream media archiving true audio and video MPEG4 compression—this is the compression used in most popular PC based media.  Other  high-end web cams support custom coding where you can import sets of instructions to tell the web cam what to do.

With web cameras you can also monitor your home and share videos using the web through web cam networking.  Some cutting edge web cameras has a built-in face tracking software than can look into your eye when its sitting on your desktop.  Like the Orbit MP from Logitech that pans and tilt down and can cover almost everywhere in your room when its tracking you.
